Dr. Rebecca Elon, an aging expert and advocate for older adults and their families, was named Geriatrician of the Year in 2007 by the American Geriatrics Society. However, when she was confronted with geographically-distanced caregiving, exhaustion, and limited resources from the pandemic, she took action. While Elon’s experience for some may represent a
worst-case scenario, there are thousands of people facing similar trials with
multiple caregiving combined with scarce resources and outside help. Yet,
despite all of the setbacks, Elon found joy in the small miracles of everyday
