A Transformative Caregiving Story

Dr. Rebecca Elon, an aging expert and advocate for older adults and their families, was named Geriatrician of the Year in 2007 by the American Geriatrics Society. However, when she was confronted with geographically-distanced caregiving, exhaustion, and limited resources from the pandemic, she took action.  From these setbacks and challenges, Dr. Elon described it as transformative…. “a gift in a way.. that truly changed me.”

While Elon’s experience for some may represent a worst-case scenario, there are thousands of people facing similar trials with multiple caregiving combined with scarce resources and outside help. Yet, despite all of the setbacks, Elon found joy in the small miracles of everyday life. Her story inspired me as I am sure it will you. The entire article is below via the link. It is well worth sharing!
