Dysfunctional Families and Emotional Wellness
The term dysfunctional family is often used jokingly to describe our hectic and demanding families. The actual term is related to destructive families. If you can substitute the word destructive for dysfunctional, your family is truly dysfunctional. Dysfunctional relationships are multi-generational and without therapy, will continue to the next generation. Destructive relationships are never healthy. Many dysfunctional relationships stem from substance abuse, mental illness [including undiagnosed mental illness], violence, boundary issues... and may extend to co-workers and friends. The first step toward healing is getting help from a licensed therapist. The cycle CAN be broken, but only with the assistance of a professional. Take the first step toward emotional wellness today.
